the soul behind these recordings is rama dyushambee. not only a vocalist, mr. dyushambee also plays tenor saxophone too. he even produced, composed and arranged the entire album. the music on here is hard to categorize. the basic feel of the songs is jazz, but you also find a portion of funk and lots of spirituality in them too. if you like your jazz funky - check out this album. if you like your funk jazzy - check out this album. generally, if you like music with soul then you can t go wrong with orbit in space.

maeve 09 is a special record. it welcomes the return of one of the founding members of the label, baikal. although the dutchman has had somewhat of a hiatus from releasing music, his hard work and struggle with the process of creating forward thinking electronic music has always continued. “pelican’s flight” reaps the rewards of this carefully nurtured process and proves most definitely it was worth the wait. the title track “pelican’s flight” is a mesmerizing ten-minute techno trip. a throbbing kick drum is decorated with sparkling synth lines all moving on their own orbit creating a trance like effect on the dance floor. the pinnacle of the trip hears rasping chords blast through the swell in a glorious moment of elation, in short this is a bomb. the b-side “all forces occur in pairs” goes deeper again, drawing the listener into a similar hypnotic state. various sonic ideas breathe in and out of the foreground creating a swirl of expectancy and excitement. this track will cause you to close your eyes and be carried away to another dimension… maeve are honored to add this record to their repertoire.

next up on will & ink is a second release from yeleesa hall & malin, hot on the heels of their last collaborative effort, lucas, at the end of 2015. once again the mysterious hall and amsterdam/paris based oscillate music boss cook up some hard hitting house that is sonically inventive. opener first carol has hulking kicks and hits and a writhing, monstrous sounding synth line that brings real rawness and energy to the four-four beats all around it. some spooky little beat-less passage of eerie industrial sounds appear before second carol again slips into a well swung and purposeful groove. this one is rubbery and rolling, with dubbed out chords riding up and down and airy hats adding a sense of scale. another ep of contemporary club music of the highest order.

dystopix comes 3 years after the last neud photo record and the wait was well worth it. things have gotten darker with this release. elegant craftsmanship, subtle but effective vocals whisper throughout, and as always, it s cybotron influence is clear. the tracks flow with an eery cohesiveness, making it neud photo s most well told story to date. the hard part is figuring out whether the story is fiction or (soon to be) reality. these 6 electro hits can easily be enjoyed either chapter by chapter (songs for the mix or dancefloor), or as a whole (for bedroom listening). mastered by rude 66 first 60 copies include a handstamped photo insert. super limited us imports

firstly, a huge thanks to everyone for supporting us so far - 2016 has seen the dext label continuing to go from strength to strength, with our callahan and mella dee ep s backed with remixes from hodge and endian which have been been super well received. now for the third ep of the year from our resident comedian bodyjack. bodyjack has been an integral part of dext since he remixed dubspeeka on our 2nd release and headlined our label takeover of privilege in ibiza last summer. we are very excited about his return to the label with this 3-tracker (and our first full solo artist ep!), and we think you re going to dig this... the title track cobra effect is one of those tracks you aren t going forget in a hurry. intense and brooding, we are hard-pushed to categorise this, but layers of sinister bass coupled with dark, driving snares and eerie synth work culminate masterfully, making this the perfect dext track. hydra effect lifts the vibe with a straight up peak-time house jam with a sting in the tail. a raw-but-infectious bassline winds along under bodyjack s signature killer drum programming, before blasting off with something you aren t going to expect. rounding the ep off is slowine effect: a proper dancehall workout (reminiscent of bodyjack s earlier work) and a real cross-genre party starter. the most upbeat of the 3 tracks, this again takes all the elements of what we love about the music from the past and cleverly works them into something special for the rave. and that s not all for bodyjack on dext this year - he will be back with a one-off ltd record called -hot shot-, backed with a very special remixer...but more on that soon!

02am is an 4 track ep by the young producer hekkla from eindhoven in the netherlands. the first track is sunset strip , a slowly build house track that moves like the last waves of heat at the end of a hot summers day, walking home feeling satisfied, all ready for the night. saturday morning sentimentality is a hard to pinpoint track that sounds like the bastard son of a trio between the melancholic side of cyndi lauper, alphaville and the echoes of a cheesy saturday morning cartoon theme song from the late 80 s. on the other side memories of tau ceti feels like tumbling into space with only the memories left of a good time on an alien world, accelerating faster and faster but still enjoying it, even though you know that the vacuum of space will eventually kill you. finishing with the hardest track no math , because, boys and girls, it s no math... hand stamped artwork by frank koedood.

j-zbel returns with second ep on 12 dedicated to all amigos rest in fif. each sides results in a massive piece of freaky vibes and suggest to dance the hell out of you. this is cross-style ep from hard rave to one thousand bpm.

the berlin-based producer is kicking off his label with a four-track single. while he is perhaps not as name-checked as some of the hardware hawking house heads of modern times, arttu snellman has been working hard at gritty box jams for a good few years now. he first appeared under his arttu guise in 2011 with the nuclear funk and fear diluted singles on royal oak and philpot respectively, and then proceeded to wheel out tunes for 4 lux and chiwax over the ensuing years. prior to the tough-edged pump of his current ventures, you could find snellman indulging in a more laptop-centric kind of practice under the name lump. this more minimalistic, glitchy house fodder could be found on labels such as karloff, morris/audio and süd electronic amongst many others. back in the here and now though, arttu was last spotted on clone jack for daze earlier this year with the rave dogz 12”, and next up he’s taking matters into his own hands. existing fans of arttu will be more than pleased with the heavyweight, crunchy tackle that inhabits cyblo01. this is dynamic business with same heft found on previous releases from snellman, mixed in with the cheeky flair that has always marked his productions out in a crowded marketplace.

argentine producer leonel castillo unveils yet another moniker with this new eponymous 77ks series. remaining the best-kept secret the latin american electronic music scene has brought to us so far, leonel is an icon and at the same time virtually unknown. a stylistic chameleon and an ultra talented jack-of-all-trades, he is hard to pinpoint, and even harder to categorize. surfacing at random, he’s been releasing music as leonel castillo and under various aliases – arnold slab, boeing or unknown artista are some of his monikers – on labels as diverse as ilian tape, sushitech, airdrop and his own imprint groovear.

jongno edits is a homage to the golden age of k-pop: psych-rock, funk, disco, boogie… 60 s, 70 s, 80 s… countless hours spent getting our hands dusty in the record shops and flea markets of jongno-gu, the central district of seoul, in order to dig out the ultra-rare gems from the land of the morning calm . expect a complete reinterpretation of hard to find music, masterfully looped, edited and remastered for your listening and dancing pleasure! the first volume, a limited edition of 300 hand-stamped white labels, contains two tracks: the a side is a spacey edit of south korean ballroom disco. the slappy intro is followed by a rolling bass line, keeping the groove locked for the tape delay expeditions. side-b is a cut and paste of a classic disco-rock tune. k-pop history right here!

magic source is a project led by producer björn wagner (the mighty mocambos, bacao rhythm & steel band, mocambo records), who is renowned for creating an authentic and hard-hitting raw funk sound. following a few acclaimed single releases on favorite recordings over the past few years, the french label deeply wanted to collaborate further with the german combo, for a special and exclusive project bringing their music on new paths. this new project is a step towards a new style: analog-electronica, or so called cosmic-disco sound.

over the course of four albums, manchester based trumpeter, composer, arranger and band-leader matthew halsall has carved out a niche for himself on the uk music scene as one of it s brightest talents. his languid, soulful music has won friends from jamie cullum and gilles peterson to jazz fm and mojo as well as an ever-growing international following. his label gondwana records is home to gogo penguin and his own albums have found halsall exploring the modal jazz of john and alice coltrane, paying tribute to the hard bop of the late ’50s and early ’60s or most recently on fletcher moss park drawing on eastern influences in his most personal statement yet. his latest album when the world was one is something of a companion piece to fletcher moss park (much of the music was written at the same time) but draws more explicitly on halsall’s love of spiritual jazz and eastern music as well as his own studies in meditation and travels in japan. beautifully recorded at hasall’s favourite studio, 80 hertz in manchester, and engineered by brendan williams and george atkins it features the recording debut of halsall’s large ensemble, the gondwana orchestra, which utilises the exotic flavours of harp, koto and bansuri flute and eastern scales to create a global palate for halsall’s life-affirming sounds.

after putting out a string of brilliant singles and ep s in the past few years, slavaki is up with his first artist album. it s hard to believe it s taken him 7 years since the first release, to come up with the idea of releasing a full-length . no wonder, tracks have gotten time-tested, and have been carefully selected out of over 10 continuous hours of material written in the period between the year 2011 and 2015. out on artists home label elusive on limited 2x12 inch vinyl, cd , cassette and digital. this album is another peek into slavaki s ever-expanding chest of musical treasures that never seems to fail to surpris

sound carrier volume 8it’s back to the cosmos with the latest instalment in chris carrier’s always-on-point series, sound carrier. the label is a home for the prolific paris artist’s techno stylings, and no.8 in the series focuses on a galactical fight theme – taking us from terra firma up into the skies and beyond. the first track, ‘alien blaster pistol’, couldn’t be more self-explanatory. mysterious keys parade over an ominous bassline while the beats keep things moving neatly. gentle chimes and bleeps are added, initiating a dialogue between the various high frequencies located in the top end. next up is ‘mahem (magneto hydrodynamic explosive munition)’, which steps into familiar sound carrier territory, that is… slightly unhinged. rolling along at a steady pace, the tune is rough, yet light with shimmering effects and charming wobbly chunks of bass. on side b chris gets gnarly on us with ‘earth invasion’. it’s the beginning of the end, so of course the music has to match that frightening prospect. gruff beats and stomping bass collide with cymbals, crunchy snares and mutant acid licks to create a beast. finally, ‘haumea brigade’ takes us into the twilight zone again, whirring fx float above hard-hitting beats and a mean b-line. eerie pads help to maintain a chilling tone throughout. deadly, the soundtrack to the end of days here on earth... prepare to evacuate!

martin landskys long association with poker flat recordings continues with yet another exquisitely realized three-tracker. long since a staple of the underground electronic music scene in berlin and europe in general, landsky’s deft ear for dynamics and sense of off kilter dance-floor knowledge continues to do the business for djs and dancers alike. after the great success of vol.1 , landsky now presents ‘ekko traxx vol.2&#8242,,,. ‘echo my head’ is the perfect example - driving, focussed and funky, yet with a subtle undercurrent that keeps you slightly out of your comfort zone and locked in to the groove. weird night contains a spooky, discordant synth that raises the tension over and over, before giving way to a hard driving rhythm track that will see the late night heads fully losing themselves classic landsky style. that organ has a similar aesthetic, chunky rhythms and bass pulses for the floor, and synth stabs and melodic hooks that keep the track in constant forward motion.

berg jaär is the new add on the arts roster, hard hitting pounding music that hits you in the body/brain like nothing else, power.

tzusing returns to l.i.e.s. with his third and (final?) name out of place ep after two now sought after percusors leading up to this one. again we are not disappointed as the massive opener face of electric hits hard taking a typical breakbeat formula and adding some sort of bizarre ritualistic element like the zulu nation or george kranz in a ceremony at a steel factory. emotional eater slows the tempo down, but again the machines grind hard with tinges of acid, heavy rhythms and sparse vocals moving in and out, while the closer r is a stripped down beater made for mixing. top stuff from the in demand producer.

originally released in france in the early 80s, the highest bidder has long been a dancefloor classic, combining snappy boogie bass and a stepping groove with gordon’s soulful vocals. sofrito and gordon henderson are proud to see these tracks legitimately once more, cut nice and loud on a 45 for optimal club play.

over the last 12 months, new mexico-based label plastik people has put out a number of superb eps featuring little known, and hard-to-find house jams. the latest edition in their collections series continues on a similar theme, and opens with the undulating boogie bass, drifting chords and wild organ solos of kerri chandlers 1999 cut * we can* (initially released on black vinyl, fact fans). on the flip you ll find the classic u.s garage/soulful house of andre wade & company s brilliant * bend over* - all woozy chords, chunky beats and rich organ lines - and the new jersey style garage bump of madagascar s overlooked *i never thought (homegrown dub)*.

the prolific producer shows he still has plenty of tricks up his sleeve across all four cuts and stitches in acid, jack and chicago styles with his own sense of charm. the kings comes hard and fast out of the blocks with big hits, wild synths and raved-up vibes that will have you punching the air. knowledge is another banger with powerful kicks and globular bassline run through with more ravey sirens, but this time is a little more haunted. crossing paths is all about a simple but effective bassline that bounces along and takes you with it in ways similar to an omar s joint, then wait is the most stripped back and mysterious of the lot with cosmic melodies panning about in a spacious and airy deep house groove. utterly timeless from start to finish, this is another massively effective offering from innershades.

coming up next on format is a new ep from the label s head honcho juan sanchez including remixes by jeroen search and andre kronert. the diffy ep marks juan s first format ep released under his own name, and it s definitely one that will turn heads on the floor. the original version of diffy and mirage reflect juan s trademarked minimal but hard-as-nails techno sound: staccato kicks, nervously rattling percussions and looped synth pulses make up the fundaments of both tracks, locking in all ingredients for proper techno clubbing.up first on the remix tip is renowned techno veteran jeroen search, whose remix of diffy is a chunky piece of stripped floor funk with subtle hints of detroit techno. following up is a rerub by andre kronert, who drops a beefy slab of mid-tempo techno that s particularly heavy on the dub side of things. 007 does have a license to kill for a reason, you know...

the delivered sampling of featured artists on louie vega starring, is one for the record books and a must for any music aficionado as louie explains, this body of work is a masterpiece that will be party of my legacy. i see it up there on the same high shelf with albums like nuyorican soul, elements of life, and masters at work.

broken body is the follow-up to 2015s do it again single. this two-stepping banger is dripping with 90s retrofuturist sensualism, a heady and visceral latin jazz-tinged house track with a back beat guaranteed to get the dancefloor jumping. alister s trademark synth flourishes mingle with the vocals of returning collaborator rahan boxley, creeping into the mix with that repeating hook of jump on in, slim. when the beats are this infectious and the melodies are this strong, it s hard not to obey. on the flip side, you ll find the deep vibes of -ago-, an analog electronic freight train with a touch of acid mysticism, as well as -endgame-, an ethereal creeper replete with rolling arpeggios and drum machines. alister johnson is a staple of the toronto dj community and has commanded decks as far afield as the us, the eu, and south africa. his diverse production c.v. includes work for dinamo azari as well as the polaris-nominated zaki ibrahim. keep your ears on alister johnson, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

according to white material pair galcher lustwerk and alvin aronson, their first collaborative album under the studio ost alias contains a mix of breezy electro, aquatic dub, high speed jit, and shimmering atmospherics. while clearly tongue-in-cheek, it s a fairly accurate description. certainly, there s a fluidity, moodiness and palpable sense of atmosphere at the heart of scenes, which casually drifts between hard-edged club workouts, hazy post-club fare and dreamy, horizontal experiments. it was apparently recorded over a three-year period, during jam sessions at various new york studios. its the spontaneous aspect of its creation that has the biggest effect, and makes the whole thing feel like fleeting snapshots of moments in time.

mindtrip presents mt13, which sees another young argentinan talent - farceb - making his mindtrip debut. farceb is a producer whos been pricking ears over the last couple of years with strong releases on labels such as arts, orioni and circular limited. he now joins pfirters imprint with his superb signals from space ep. exoplanet war sets things in motion and is a stylish, entrancing tune, which, if it wasnt for its intrinsic energy and power - would border on the somniferous. next up is signals from space, a tough, brutal and percussive workout, punctuated by dark, organic synth stabs. this track builds and rolls along in a way dancefloors will love. unknown shadow is a powerful, stripped down merciless lump of peak-time techno which cleverly blends atmosphere and hard hitting percussion. the final track - the superb hyperion, is a 6 minute, deadly exercise in pushing intensity and tension to (and sometimes beyond) commonsensical limits. this is mindtrip music!

although the artist has spent 2015 honing the discographies of his other projects, “ravers” comes after a silent year for the d. carbone moniker which in turn gives it all the more impact. the “class of ‘87” dj and producer’s first mini-album is dedicated to everyone interested in the ecstatic sounds of 90’s rave culture. on “ravers”, d. carbone distances himself from the functional perception that techno indicates a fairly narrow tempo range. instead, he approaches it more freely by returning to earlier formulations.

new york coterie sheik ‘n’ beik line up the next 12” in a string of successful releases including legowelt & xosar under their now defunct xamiga guise, jeffrey scott and label owner rechulski. enlisted for their 7th record is the japan based mister saturday night and 1080p affiliate keita sano. with a strong affinity to analogue sound and old school audio processing, sano renders personal mind-maps in his work - eclectic and off-kilter productions shot-through with warmth and propelled by potent drums. his latest offering for sheik ‘n’ beik is one fans old and new will relish: a series of 4 warped excursions showcasing sano’s refined and idiosyncratic studio techniques. ‘bypass motion’ kicks things off with a fizzing 909 and a loose-limbed bass pattern set churning under brisk, steely atmospheres. dense in the low-end, ‘child’s play’ then follows up with a hard-nosed groove carried by horror-movie sweeps and distant computerised vocals.

australia’s deep street soul, since signing to freestyle records in 2008, have earned a reputation as being right at the grittiest end of the hard funk scene who made a big impact from the outset - with even the mc5’s wayne kramer saying that their version of kick out the jams “... is the greatest version of the song ever recorded!”. from their debut self titled instrumental long player, to the 2011 follow up look out, watch out (and the addition of vocalist mighty may johnston) this band have grown, matured and honed thier songwriting skills, as well as maintaining their rare ability to really capture the essence of the original raw funk & soul artists that inspire them. 2016 sees them return with this quite spectacular new collection. whilst the diamond hard, driving grooves remain undiminished, there is also no doubt that the bands song writing has developed to an equally assured level. case in point is souls come alive - from monique boggia’s wurlitzer electric piano intro, the blistering horns and may johnson’s simply exemplary singing - the songs instant appeal will be lost on no one with an ear for genuine organic soul music. come alive also features guest vocalists joshua tavares and kylie auldist - come alive is deep street souls finest work - no if’s, but’s or maybe’s. it s a done deal.
